Sutton's 2026/27 term dates: half term 26 to 30 October, Christmas from 18 December, Easter from 25 March. Most big schools close for two weeks in October.

Sutton Council’s term dates for 2026/27 give an October half term of Monday 26 to Friday 30 October 2026, a Christmas break from Friday 18 December, and an Easter break from Thursday 25 March 2027. Those dates bind only the borough’s community schools. Most Sutton secondaries are academies or grammars that set their own, and eight of the nine individual schools we checked close for two weeks in October, not one.

The quick answer

  • October half term: 26 to 30 October on the council’s dates, but 19 to 30 October at most big Sutton schools.
  • Christmas: term ends Friday 18 December 2026 at almost every school; back on Monday 4 January 2027, though several schools hold a training day that Monday.
  • Easter: term ends Thursday 25 March 2027, back Monday 12 April. Summer half term is 31 May to 4 June 2027.

These are the dates the council publishes for community schools (Sutton Council, school term dates). The council adds that other schools “may have different school term and holiday dates” and that schools may set their own training (INSET) days.

Good Friday is 26 March 2027 and Easter Monday 29 March, both inside the Easter holiday. The council has already published dates through to 2029/30; 2027/28 starts on Wednesday 1 September 2027, with half term from 25 October.

Every school on the list takes 15 to 19 February and 31 May to 4 June as its spring and summer half terms, matching the council. Every school breaks up for Easter on Thursday 25 March except Nonsuch Primary, which finishes on Wednesday 24 March, and all return on Monday 12 April.

October: the fortnight most families get

Each of these schools lists the whole fortnight, 19 to 30 October, as its half term; it is a planned two-week break, not a training day tacked on. The families it catches out are those with one child at a two-week school and another at a school on the council’s one-week dates.

Overton Grange is the odd one: it keeps the one-week half term but adds training days on Friday 23 October and Monday 2 November, so its pupils are off for seven school days in a row. Sutton High takes a different fortnight altogether, 26 October to 6 November, which overlaps the council’s week but runs a week later than the state schools.

Christmas and New Year

With term ending on Friday 18 December for most schools, the Christmas holiday runs through the week of Christmas Day (a Friday) and New Year’s Day (also a Friday). Greenshaw sets its holiday as Monday 21 December to Friday 1 January.
